Holden had his 9 month appointment yesterday. He actually weighs 1 less pound then he did when he was 6 months old....doctor is a little worried considering he is in the 3% for weight. SO my peditrician advised us to start him on formula exclusively. I'm having a really hard time with the idea to stop breastfeeding. But like Mary said to me today, it isn't what makes me happy or sad, its what is best for Holden. And he needs the extra nutrients that formula has. I'm gonna keep breastfeeding probably morning and night but for the most part he's a formula eating baby!!
Ashleigh, my kids stopped growing well at about 7 or 8 months, too. It was just the growth curve for every single one of them. It freaked out our doctor big time at Josh's 9 month checkup and we had to do all kinds of hard tests to find out what was going on. Then with Sophie and the rest, she just said, "Oh. This is a Green baby, isn't it? I guess this is what we should expect." I'm sorry about the formula, but it definitely is OK to do what's best for Mr. Holden. See you tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what happened with Gibson, he wasn't gaining any weight from 7-11 months. He was a formula baby around 8 months. Never hurts to had some breast milk and mommy time in there with the formula, just gives Holden more food to grow!

Aw Ash ,I'm sorry it is so hard giving up nursing. Celia hates nursing (she will only do it like twice a day) and prefers a bottle. I curse formula for taking my baby away. Good luck, we can be sad together.
