Snowy day

Watching the snow come down.

Holden loves to vacuum---never thought I would say that

As you know, Holden is terrified of the vacuum. I was at Toys R Us and found a mini vacuum that makes real noises and lights up. So I decided to buy it and see if it helped with his fear. Well it has, he now loves to vacuum, especially his room. Now if only the vacuum really worked.....

Bad news....Jariki is now even more terrified than before, especially when Holden chases her with his vacuum.

Future climber

Kurt has been climbing a lot at work, Holden wants to be JUST like his dad so of course now he loves climbing. He really enjoys walking around the house with Kurts climbing shoes on and chalk bag around his waist.

Love Day #2

I was going to make this breakfast on Valentines day, but Kurt had orientation for school so we had to bump it back a day.
We had strawberry stuffed french toast, found here http://annies-eats.net/2011/02/08/strawberry-stuffed-french-toast/. So just wanted to show you a picture of it because it was SO good. And don't worry Annie's picture is a billion times better then mine :)

Valentines Day

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

We had a very low key day filled with beautiful (surprise) flowers from Kurt, very fast dinner at Mazza because Kurt had to get back to school, ending with chocolate mousse that was very lumpy but tasted good!

60 degree temps in February....Let's play outside!

Holden loves finding his shadow
"Look mom a rock!!!"

Strawberry lover

Thankfully our Costco got some strawberries that are decent enough to buy. And Holden couldn't be happier! He loves strawberries and if I let him he would eat them all day everyday. He decided he wanted to eat strawberries and Cheerios sitting in the laundry basket before bed!

Valentines cookie making

Holden and I trekked to Orem to make some Valentine cookies with Brittany. We finally made it 2 1/2 hours late because a part on our car broke while we were driving on the freeway. Thankfully I have some amazing in laws, Kurt's brother came to fix the undercarriage on the car so we could make it to Brittany's house.

Holden loved eating the dough and he LOVED eating the sprinkles.
He also loved playing with Brittany's husband, Janssen. They were scaring each other and running all around their apartment!

Thanks again Weeks family for having us over!

Fun after bath

I've been giving Holden a lot of baths since Kurt is pretty non existent in our house these days. School and work are keeping him very busy!

So it's always nice when Kurt can give Holden a bath so I can laze around the house eating bon-bons. Yea right...more like so I can wash dishes and vacuum while these 2 are splashing away.

Naked playing after his bath is a must!
And loving on Jariki
Mean mug face appears again. He loves to mean mug people out in public, its a tad embarassing if people don't really understand he's just trying to be funny.

Funny story: We went to breakfast a few weeks ago and our waitress came over to the table and said all the cooks in the kitchen (they have a big window where you can look into the kitchen) were laughing at Holden because he kept giving them the "mean mug" face. They were trying to make mean and funny faces back at him.

Brownie making

Another shot of Holden's "mean mug" face
Holden loves to help me in the kitchen. We measure everything out while counting and he pours it in the bowl. He also loves to get his whisk out and start stiring. Yes, at times it doubles my mess in the kitchen but I also believe its a good learning tool since we are counting and pouring. When we made brownies on Sunday for a Superbowl party he was more than happy to help lick the spatula when we were all done!

Teething pain

Holden has been teething 4 molars so life at the Youngberg house has been full of sleepless nights, tears from pain, fevers, and lots and lots of motrin and tylenol. Holden loves taking medicne and throws a fit when we won't let him have the tylenol open. So we have started giving him a bowl of orange juice and the dropper so he can suck up the orange juice and feed it to himself.

CONGRATS again Kurty

Since Kurt got into the Master's program for Social Work I decided to throw him a CONGRATS family party at Kerri's house. I made French Dip sandwiches, salad, Eric and Nina brought fruit salad, Kerri had veggies, and I made Oreo Cupcakes for dessert. It was quite the feast and nice to get together with family to celebrate Kurt.

Now we just need to get through this semester...I should say Kurt needs to get through it but I think its a team effort. He has a lot a lot a lot of homework and projects to complete, but the I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

And now I can start planning his graduation party for this Bachelors! Just ordered the invitations today!

Random pictures

Since finishing up my 365 days of pictures project I have been majorly slacking in the picture taking department. Maybe I just needed a month of downtime from picture taking or maybe it's because I'm home less. Either way I promise to be better about taking pictures and updating the blog!

Holden likes to wear his towel around his waist like his dad!

Wearing my beanie

We like to call this look the "Mean mug face"

Holden's first day at daycare

holden's 1st day of daycare

The saddest day in the mommy career was sending Holden to daycare. But there is no way around it with me working and Kurt in school. So here is Holden's new schedule---it's crazy and I hope he can get used to it :)

Monday---Kurt drops Holden off at Nina's house and I pick him up after work
Tuesday--Kurt stays home with Holden, I get home at 5:20 and Kurt rushes out the door at 5:30 for class
Wednesday---Kurt drops and picks up Holden at daycare
Thursday---Kurt drops Holden off at Kerri's house and picks him up after school
Friday---I drop and pick up Holden at daycare

Kurt is still working the weekends!

Our schedule is crazy, but it does give us time together in the mornings which I'm grateful for.

I also don't have words to express the immense gratitude I have for my sister in laws who would have watched Holden everyday if I wasn't able to get him into daycare. They are amazing ladies who already have SO much going on in their daily lives, but they are willing to take care of my cute little guy. Thank you thank you thank you Nina and Kerri!

New Year and New Daily Life of the Youngbergs

Kurt got a call the day after Christmas to inform him the company he works for was going to stop paying for our health insurance...and the cost for us to cover it was $500 a month....out of our pocket. Let's just say it put a big damper on the end of our trip. We were scrambling around trying to figure out a way to make up $500 a month. That's when I had to make the decision to back to work. It was amazing being at home with Holden, but definitiely not cost effective :)

So I am now working at the University of Utah as a campus operator. I only work 4 1/2 hours a day, but our life has been flipped upside down. I work from 12:30 to 5 so we have the mornings as a family. We then drop Holden off at daycare, Kerri's house, or Nina's house while I rush to work and Kurt rushes to school. I have been trying to figure out how to still get dinner on the table at a decent time when I don't get home until 5:30. So I've been chopping and making most of the dinner before I leave for work, then finish it up when I get home.

So there is how our daily life has changed, I work, Kurt's in school and Holden is in daycare and at his Aunts' houses.
