Carving time!

We thought Holden would love getting his hands dirty in the seeds and guts...he was the exact opposite. He would walk around the perimeter of the sheet so he didn't get near the pumpkin seeds and guts and if he did accidentally get it on himself he would immediately start cleaning it off.
Holden cleaning off his toes
He started getting a little more ambitious and decided he would venture in the middle of the sheet to touch the pumpkin
Kurt is the best at getting all the gunk out. Kurt said when he was little he would go as far as washing out the inside of his pumpkin to get it 100% clean

Jariki loved eating the pumpkin seeds and guts...who knew? So Holden loved feeding her!
Really really blurry bad picture, but I love the big cheesy grin on his face!
Holden's pumpkin carved and lit up! We carved Holden's pumpkin, put Holden to bed, and then Kurt and I enjoyed carving our pumpkins while watching Mad Men!

10.26.10

We attempted to make a Halloween craft for the Grandparent's but it realllyyy didn't work out. So Holden ended up finger painting and LOVED it. So maybe next holiday we will attempt another craft!

The very little time Holden and I can spend with Kurt is truly cherished these days.

10.24.10

What's the best plan for a rainy and windy day? Go out to breakfast with Natalie, come home and watch a little TV, everyone take a nap, wake up and play with toys, get pizza and sodas, make cookies, and bed! Gotta love rainy days!

10.23.10

The Social Work program Kurt is in at the U put on a "safe trick or treating" activity on Saturday. They had games, face painting, cookie decorating, and trick or treating of course. Here is a preview of the costume Val and I made...he's my Curious George monkey. He won't wear the hat because its a little too small, but he still looks pretty cute! He walked over to this tree and tried to climb it...my monkey!

10.22.10

Holden figured out a way to slip into the basket of his stroller while it was folded up. He made a game out of rocking it back and forth and rolling out. Who knew how much fun a stroller could provide when your not strolling in it?

10.21.10

Kurt and I got to attend prom together! Don't you just love our outfits? We got Kurt's sweet set up at DI and Kerri loaned me her beautiful homecoming dress from high school...complete with the black gloves!

The classic prom picture complete with Diesel
Ryan, Kurt, and I. Thanks to Kristin for watching the babe so we could get a night out!

10.20.10

We went to pick out our pumpkins at Wheeler Farm and walk around to see the animals

Holden loved to chase the rooster...the rooster didn't love it so much
Holden is definitely a boy..he loves tractors, trucks, and dirt. Wheeler Farm has a lot of old tractors and he loved sitting on them pretending to drive

Kurt and Holden in the corn maze
The one picture I'm in and Holden won't cooperate! He was too interested in running around to sit with his stinkin' mom!
Singing and clapping
Holden loved walking through the pumpkins

We had the perfect fall day so Holden, Riki, and I went on a very long walk. We first stopped at Groves Market which is about a block from our house. It is a neighborhood market that has a huge array of hot sauces and a really good deli. Holden and I split a pumpkin cookie and he got a "Bug Juice." When we got back home Holden collected leaves in his bucket and we made a leaf collage for Kurt. It really was a perfect fall day!

10.18.10

Kristin and Diesel are staying with us for a couple weeks before Kristin can move into her new apartment in Salt Lake. We have loved having them here. Riki loves to mess around with Diesel and I love to hang out with my friend! Holden has also gotten very used to Kristin being here and I think she is starting to be his favorite person!

10.17.10

We celebrated Kerri's birthday on Sunday with the Utah Youngberg's and Blake!

I'm very grateful for Kerri in my life. She is always there to listen, help, and offer advice. I don't believe I would have survived a few weeks this summer without her love and support. No matter what is going on in her life, she puts it aside if you are in need. Kerri is a great mom, amazing pianist, and a fun person! She is really and truly a friend and sister.

Happy Birthday Kerri!!

We were playing outside and Holden loved Blake to pick him up to dunk the basketball
Kerri's birthday cake...I insisted we put all the candles on for her age...but I won't tell you the number!

Chad had been working for a little bit on re-building Brent's computer. He cleaned it up, replaced parts, and uploaded the newest version of Window's. So while we were in California Kurt did a lot of research and found the perfect monitor at Fry's. (apparently it is the mecca of electronics..Kurt described it as 4 times the size of Best Buy...does not sound like my kind of fun) When we got home from California at 10pm, Kurt set it all up. So when Holden woke up the next morning he couldn't believe his eyes. He loves sitting at the computer desk to watch Curious George or help dad with homework! Since this picture was taken, he is not allowed to sit alone on the chair, he fell off twice pretty hard!

10.15.10

We had to get back to Utah so Kurt could work on Saturday. Val finished the costume at the last second, and I'm so grateful she worked so hard on it.

Holden was a TROOPER on the drive. He did not have 1 single meltdown. He watched Curious George DVD's (thanks Kerri for letting us borrow the DVD player, it saved us), colored, played with some toys, took 2 naps, and was just in general a very good boy!
Thank you to Kurt for doing the majority of the driving! I only drove for about 2 hours of the 11 hour drive
Oh the long road home.....

10.14.10

On Thursday we had another relaxing day at home. Told you we had a quiet and relaxing time in California..we mostly stayed at home which I think was exactly what we needed! Val and I continued to work on the costume, Bri and Celia went back to LA so Bri could work on homework, and we took the pups to the dog beach at Huntington.

Lynn and Val are remodeling their bathroom, so they got a new bathtub and we thought the box would make a nice playpen for the kids to play in!
Cute Celia!

Loving each other
Moms and the kids. I really really really wish we lived closer to Bri, Mike, and Celia. Bri and Mike say they will never move to Utah...but we can just keep pushing it! I really love my sister in law!
Steven and Kurt at the dog beach
The water was freezing but that didn't stop Holden from going in
I was taking pictures of Holden as soon as the wave crashed on him! He got right up and went back in
Trying to stay warm at the beach!

10.13.10

Left the camera in the car from the Jack Johnson concert....don't even know why i brought it because cameras weren't allowed. But Lynn took the car the next day to the temple and he was gone from 7am-9:30pm. So I didn't get any pictures with my camera...stay tuned though. I took pictures on Briana's camera and she is sending them to me! So I will update this post soon!

10.12.10

On Tuesday I went for a run with Val, Bri and Celia came down to hang out for a few days, Celia and Holden really had a fun time playing together, started sewing the costume, and later at night Bri, Chelsea, and I went to the Jack Johnson concert.

Holden and Kurt playing the piano. I love to listen to Kurt play, he doesn't very often but he can pick it up pretty easily
Celia helping Val get started
My first experience sewing! I really really enjoyed it. It took us a long time, but that was because Val was having to teach me the very basics of everything. I'm grateful she had the patience to teach me and show me the ways!
We had a mellow day at home and the babies were getting a little restless. So while I was sewing with Val, Bri took the kids outside to play with water! They loved to fill the buckets and dump the water everywhere

Bri, Chelsea, and I headed to the Jack Johnson concert. It's so nice to get out and have some real adult conversation and not worry about Holden. G-Love and Special Sauce performed and then Jack Johnson came out. I haven't listened to Jack in a while, so it definitely renewed my love for him! Thanks again Bri for taking us, I had such a fun time!
