We had game night at our house on Friday with friends (Kurt had the day off..amazing) so I got some Halloween decorations out and of course bought candy corn. Well on Sunday Holden thought if he got on his tip toes he could reach inside the bowl......
and SUCCESS!!!! He was able to get some candy corn! I then had to move the bowl up on the mantle so he wouldn't be eating candy all day...oh yes and so I wouldn't too!

We watched Ben on Friday so Kerri and Dave could attend their nieces' wedding. Ben started the day out right by having a little peeing accident about 2 min after he arrived. I asked him if he needed to go to the bathroom and he looked at me and then looked at his pants and they were soaked...hahaha. I'm sorry Kerri, I just had to laugh because I know the day will come Holden will pee somewhere in your house :) So after we cleaned up Ben we played with toys, watched a Clifford movie, and played with blocks! We had a very fun day hanging out with Ben. Kurt and I don't get much 1 on 1 time with our nieces and nephews so its always nice when we do!

Bri, Mike, and Celia were in town to run the Top of Utah marathon so we were able to spend a day with them before they headed to Logan. The 6 of us headed to the Utah fair where we ate greasy fair food, saw lots of livestock, people watched, kids went on a train ride, and to top it off we got a delicious funnel cake!
Holden kept poking Celia and she was so not a fan.
Holden wanted to push Celia's stroller and again she was not happy about that. Holden is a little overwhelming sometimes....but they worked it out. He got to push his stroller and also got to push Celia's stroller a few times.
Not really a fan of the goats

Getting ready for the train ride to start. Holden loved being on the train, had a smile on his face the whole time
Celia and her sheepers
After the fair, we headed to Kerri's house for dinner with the rest of the family.
Hanging out watching the sunset
"Oh, I'm a Gummy Bear Yes, I'm a Gummy Bear! Oh, I'm a Yummy, Chummy, Funny, Lucky Gummy Bear" Holden and Celia watching their favorite "Gummy Bear" song on his phone.
Mike, Bri, Celia, Nina, Eric, Evy, Kurt, Holden, & myself!
BEAUTIFUL sunsets in North Salt Lake. I'm very jealous the Green family gets to experience these sunsets all the time.

Homework homework homework!! It has taken over Kurts life...only 2 more years till he's done! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel
Do you love the rockstar next to him? I think this picture was taken around 11pm and he had to write a paper!
I'm very grateful for the hardwork Kurt puts into school, I know all of his dedication will pay off. He works so hard for our family, with school and work he probably does a 70 hour week. And as much as I miss being at work, I know it would have been so hard on Holden for both Kurt and I to be gone so much.
So I'm also grateful I can stay at home.
And thanks Kurt for being such a hard worker for our family.

Kurt had to attend an opening bowling social for the social work program hes in at the U. He got a 1/2 day off work (best thing ever) so we all ventured to the bowling alley for a little fun.
Go Utes!
Later on, we met some of Kurts boys at the Greek Festival. Stood in line for 30 min or so, ate delicious Greek food and played on the inflatables outside.
See the boy in the non-matching outfit?? Well he is one of the boys Kurt works with. He thought it would be really funny to jump on stage with the PROFESSIONAL dancers and dance with them. It was funny when he got ripped off the stage by a 13 year old girl and she then yelled at hm.

Holden loves to color....on anything! We have tried over and over and over to say crayons are just for paper, but he obviously doesn't understand. But he does really enjoy coloring in his coloring book, so now I just have to keep a very close eye on him when he decides its color time!
And P.S.---don't mind the dried food on his high chair in the last picture!

Playing with dad is one of the greatest joys in Holden's life. On the weekends, you can just tell Holden misses his dad (as do I). He will now hand me my cell phone and say "dad," so I can call him and he can talk to his dad. When Kurt pulled in the driveway from school the other day, I said "Holden dad is home!" he dropped his juice box and ran to the door, as I opened the door and Holden saw Kurt he got the biggest smile on his face and said, "DADDY!" This semester has been really hard, Kurt is at school 4 days a week and studying a huge majority of the time after school and still works on the weekends. So the time that he is home, is so special and I love watching these 2 play, wrestle, and laugh until their stomachs hurt. I love you boys

Tuesdays are no fun at the Youngberg house. Kurt has school from 8am-5pm, so Holden and I try to stay busy the whole day. We went to Book baby (reading time for babies at the library) and then played at the park. Holden loved exploring all around the park so much we went back the next day...as you will see in the next post!

So as we all know, Holden is not the best eater. But he loves to snack throughout the day...a few goldfish, piece of bread, 1/4 of a banana. Well he would leave his snacks all over the couch leaving lots of stains. So I decided he needed a table that was just his size. I found a cute one at Ikea, built it, and here it is! He loves to sit and eat his snacks, drink his milk, and color on it.
And here is a rare picture of me and Holden, I'm the one behind the camera 99.9% of the time. We just got back from getting dinner and loved playing outside while the weather is still nice!

Ohh the wonderful temper tantrum. They have become a daily occurrence in our house...or at Target, grocery store, shopping, playground, friends' houses...you name it. It is so dramatic too, Holden has to fall to his knees and scream. I've learned to just ignore the screaming until he decides hes through. Is it the right way to handle it?? I have no clue, I just don't know what else to do!

Since I stopped working, we are getting a little tight with money. So we bought some clippers and Kurt has decided to shave his head and cut Holden's hair. It should save us around $50 a month..too bad I'm not giving up getting my hair done but NO way do I trust Kurt with scissors on my head.
Holden's new favorite thing to do....a somersault!
Playing the drums with dad after dinner

MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR dinner and dessert fail. I made yogurt chicken, but ran out of panko crumbs halfway through so used cornmeal. I won't ever make that mistake again, but both ways were plain disgusting. Made mashed potatoes, only half the potatoes weren't fully cooked so we had some rock hard pieces and I didn't have any sour cream so I used yogurt...disgusting. And then I made some double chocolate chip cookies for the Green family and they were flat as a pancake and stuck to the pan. I had to soak the pan for quite a while to get those cookies off. We suffered through eating the disgusting dinner, and had a delicious dinner of enchiladas the next night.

Went to our favorite wing place to get for $.50 wing night and Holden was a little crazy. So we hung outside while he tried to climb on tables and chairs.
When we got home Holden played with his tractor outside while we enjoyed the end of summer.
"Who's #1? We're #1!!" Too bad Holden wasn't into doing it tonight
