Thursday was a blur.
I got the news of Brent's death late on Wednesday night. Kurt called me (from the Havasupai reservation) around 10pm and said there had been an accident. He said "Brent is gone," I asked him if they got search and rescue to go find him and then Kurt said "No, Brent died." Kurt was only able to tell me a few details and had to go hike the 10 long miles out of the canyon.
I lost it, I was shaking and didn't even think it was real. I had fallen asleep watching TV, so I thought it was a nightmare. I called Mary to tell her the news because I had no idea who else to call so late. It hit me, it was real, I was really telling somebody Brent passed away. Thankfully, Kerri called me about 30 min later and asked if I wanted to come spend the night. I'm SO grateful they thought of me during this horrible time, I'm so thankful for the loving family I married into. We stayed at Dave and Kerri's that night and couldn't sleep. We talked about memories of Brent, death, the accident, family, the after life, Kurt, etc.
Finally, I got a phone call from Kurt around 3:30am (I think). He was able to tell me the full story and we just sat on the phone asking questions and crying. I tried to fall asleep somewhere around 4am, but I just tossed and turned, so finally decided to read. Holden woke up around 6:30, so I had to put my happy face on and try to be normal and take care of him.
The whole day I tried to figure out how to get to Kurt the fastest way possible. Kurt drove from Arizona to California in Brent's car and I flew from Utah to California that night. We were finally reunited around 9pm, it had seemed like a lifetime. My stomach was in knots all day, and as soon as I saw Kurt all my knots went away.

We had a crazy storm coming in at night. I was trying to get the settings on my camera right, but I've decided I NEED A NEW LENS! I'm really hating this lens, it seems like I can't get good pictures..so here's to saving up money to buy a beautiful new one!
Our neighbors invited Holden and I over for Holden to play in the pool. He was being a huge grump, so he didn't spend too much time in the water and the time he did spend in the water he was mostly crying or whining. Here is to day one with Kurt being gone.....and we already miss him and definitely miss his help!

Will and Holden looking at bugs. Will was so good with Holden all day, he was making him laugh all the time. So I think Holden really became comfortable with Will and all the other kids. It takes him a while to warm up to people.
Holden has been putting the oven mitts on and going over to the oven door to open it. I think its absolutely adorable.
Holden loves to watch ants. He also likes to swish them, but in this picture he is just staring at them. And a few minutes after this picture was taken, he put a roly poly in his mouth.
Earlier in the day Kurt took some pictures when I was at work. I think this picture was in the morning probably watching Curious George.
My friend from high school, Blair was driving from San Francisco to Denver and stopped for a night in Salt Lake. We went to her Aunts house for dinner. It was so nice to hang out for a few hours and she finally got to meet my crazy boy, Holden. He loved feeding the dog and exploring the new scenery. Love you Blair....hopefully we get to see you again soon!

Kurt playing around with Ezra and Holden. Ezra was being so cute with Kurt the whole day, and when I babysat them this Saturday Ezra said "I really love Kurt, why isn't he here?" So I tried to explain to him that Kurt had to work, and he was very upset Kurt couldn't come play.

Later that day, we did a lot of yard work. We were washing off the front sidewalk with water and Holden figured he should lick the ground clean!
Holden playing outside. He loves bringing Jariki's food holder around with him. It's disgusting and I've tried to give him other tupperware to bring around, but he won't. He only likes holding Jariki's. Crazy boy
Later that night, we watched Etta and Gibson. We ate dinner and dessert( they ate dessert, i just watched), played with toys, played with play dough, and started watching UP. We had a fun night!
Where in the room is Holden? This is how the family room looks at the end of the day. TRASHED. The room could go from perfectly clean to a disaster in minutes.
